By Land
Once you have arrived in Sardinia, you must reach the port of Palau, the departure point for ferries to La Maddalena:
- From Olbia: The journey by car or bus from Olbia to Palau takes approximately 45 minutes. You can rent a car at Olbia airport or take a direct bus from Olbia to Palau.
- From Alghero: From Alghero to Palau, it takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes by car. Car rental is a convenient option here as well.
- From Cagliari: The trip from Cagliari to Palau by car takes about 4 hours. In this case, too, renting a car is a common option.
By Sea
The final leg of the journey is the ferry ride from Palau to La Maddalena. The main companies operating on this route are Delcomar and Maddalena Lines:
- Duration of the journey: The ferry trip takes approximately 15-20 minutes.
- Frequency: Ferries depart regularly, with sailings every 15-30 minutes during high season.
- Costs: Tickets can be purchased online or directly at the port of Palau. The cost varies based on the season and the type of vehicle being transported, if applicable.
